Welcome back, Kindred Spirits!
Happy September and thank you again for granting me a summer break of sorts, as I took August off from writing this newsletter to walk the Portuguese Way of the Camino as a Honeymoon trip!
I have been pleasantly surprised by all the ways in which the Anne series has paralleled moments in my life. This continued on page one of Rainbow Valley after Anne and Gilbert return from 3 months in Europe. I read this while sitting on a plane to return home after my own 3 week trip in Europe. Now, I am grateful to be home and settling back into my routines, which happily includes reading the Anne series and writing this newsletter!
What occurred in your world in August? Any good reads or travel? I would love to hear about it!
We are now embarking on a new tale, centrally focused on the world of Anne’s children in Rainbow Valley. This month’s book has 35 chapters, so we will be reading along with the following schedule:
Week 1 (September 5th): Chapters 1-8
Week 2 (September 12th): Chapters 9-16
Week 3 (September 19th): Chapters 17-25
Week 4 (September 26th): Chapters 26-35
Week 5 (Monday September 29th: Conclusion post and plan for October
I am excited to have all of you fellow kindred spirits continuing with me in this read-along! As always, please let me know what works for you, what would improve the process, and what you hope to see next, as next month will bring us to our final book from the Anne series!!
As we prepare to turn the last page in October, I’ve been thinking about what might come after our time in Avonlea draws to a close. What other stories might carry that same magic — the kind that speaks to kindred spirits and celebrates the beauty of everyday life. If a book comes to mind that you think this little community would love, I’d be delighted to hear about it.
Thank you for reading
